The BHN Listserv is an email list, which is maintained by Belmont-Hillsboro Neighbors to communicate quickly and conveniently with neighbors about issues of common interest. There is no charge to subscribe. Fast-breaking news, crime alerts, and other communications will be broadcast to all mailing list subscribers.

There are two ways to join the new mailing list:

• You can sign up on the web, which requires creating a Google account (you do not have to have a gmail email address though -- any email address will work). This is the preferred method, because it allows you to set preferences for your account and review the list of old messages.
• Or you can sign up via email only.

To sign up on the web:

• Go to http://groups.google.com/group/belmont-hillsboro and on the right side of the screen click on "Join this group"
• You will be taken to a new web page where you can sign in using your Google account, or create an account if you don't have one already. This is an easy process. You will be required to enter an email address when creating the Google account, but it can be any email address (it does not have to be Gmail).
• This option lets you view the archive of past posts, set personal preferences for receiving emails (i.e., daily digests), etc.

Or, if you don't want to sign up on the web, you can sign up via email:

• Send an email to belmont-hillsboro-subscribe@googlegroups.com
• You should receive a confirmation email in a few minutes. Hit REPLY to reply to this confirmation email (no message text is needed). That will confirm your email address.
• You should now be registered in the group.
• In the confirmation email, there is an option to click on a link in the email rather than using REPLY. If you click on this link you will be signed up and confirmed, but you will get an error message on the screen about an expired invitation. Ignore this.

Once you are signed up, you can post a message to the group:

• Send an email to info@belmont-hillsboro.org.
• Your email must be read and approved by a moderator before it can be posted, so it may take a few minutes or longer for it to appear.
• Posting guidelines will be available on www.belmont-hillsboro.org website soon. In general, these would include neighborhood event announcements, crime alerts, neighborhood school announcements, lost & found pet announcements, Council District 18 updates, etc. Postings will not include advertising for any business, political advertisements for specific candidates, items for sale, real estate or leasing announcements.

Please note that BHN will not distribute your email address to anyone and that it will be used only for neighborhood-related communications.
